InchDairnie Doubles Capacity with Significant Distillery Expansion

Precision. Purpose. Progress.

As we approach our 10th anniversary next year, we are doubling our production capacity to 4 million litres per year — ushering in a new era of innovation to meet the rising demand for our bold, flavour-led whiskies.

The expansion of InchDairnie Distillery includes the addition of two advanced Frilli-designed stills with energy recovery systems, three new washbacks supporting our 24/7 production, and four additional on-site warehouses—with space secured for a further fourteen. We are also preparing for the future of sustainable distilling, transitioning to 100% green hydrogen by 2027, a move set to reduce our carbon footprint by an estimated 35%.

This investment is more than just growth; it’s the realisation of our founding vision – sustainability, innovation, and distilling whisky that pushes boundaries. This is not just whisky making, this is whisky reimagined.

Scott Sneddon, Managing Director at InchDairnie Distillery said: “Whisky is a long-term business, and the developments we are announcing today are all part of the meticulous planning and long-term viewpoint that can be seen throughout our business decision-making since our beginning in 2015.

“As we prepare to mark ten years, the doubling of capacity is a bold move, but one that ensures we are set to meet the increased growth in demand for our products that we predict will come as more and more discover our innovative whiskies and full flavours.”

Ian Palmer, Founder and Chairman at InchDairnie Distillery said: “The installation of the new infrastructure at the distillery is testament to the quality of spirit that we are producing here in Fife, and have done for a decade.

“Demand from industry partners for our new-make liquid has been high, and the response we have had to our first release, RyeLaw, unveiled last year has been both satisfying and humbling.”

As part of the expansion, we have worked with a number of esteemed partners including esteemed Italian still maker Frilli, Clyde Associated Engineers, Sinclair Scott, MK Site Services, ARUP and longtime collaborator, Colorado Construction.

InchDairnie Carbon Footprint Report 2023-2024

“Net zero” is everywhere right now and is thrown around in almost meaningless fashion in the same way the word “sustainable” is. But what does it actually mean and how can we achieve it?

KinGlassie: Peat Use and Restoration

We recognise that whisky relies on natural resources for its production, and that making a peated whisky uses a precious Scottish resource. We do not take this for granted.  Extraction has an impact on the environment, so we are taking steps to balance what we use by supporting peatland restoration across Scotland.

A Partnership with Muntons Malt

In this ever-changing landscape of sustainability, we feel we are in safe hands. Much of our carbon footprint is in our cereals, so working directly with both Munton’s and our local Fife farmer at Balgonie Estate, we are working together to reduce this.
